Hellboy franchise star Ron Perlman really doesn't want to play the character again in a hoped-for third film -- but he will anyway.

"Let me make the record clear," Perlman told Slashfilm after a TCA panel for his Amazon series Hand of God. "I don't want to do Hellboy 3. It's a pain in the ass to put that makeup on and take it off. But I feel we're obligated to finish the story. That's it. End of conversation."

While that seems like it might kill some of the momentum that Perlman has been largely responsible for creating around a final installment of the trilogy, the actor said that he's ready to "move mountains" to get it made, if only somebody will tell him what mountain and how to move it.

Despite concerns about the actor's age, Perlman remained unfazed, saying that he's on board as long as filmmaker Guillermo del Toro is.

"[If] del Toro says 'put the makeup on,' you can shoot me in a wheelchair and I'll still be Hellboy," Perlman said. "I guess the only cutoff point is when they actually close the box. If you don't see me get up and go, 'Hang on, I was kidding,' then I'm still ready."

The first episode of Hand of God is on Amazon now, with more to follow in September.
