We're only five years removed from 2010's A Nightmare On Elm Street reboot, that starred Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen) as Freddy Krueger, but New Line is going to reboot the horror franchise once again, according to The Tracking Board.

Details are scarce, but New Line has already hired Orphan and Wrath of the Titans screenwriter David Leslie Johnson to pen the script.

The Tracking Board adds, "I'm hearing that the studio's now going back to the drawing board, working to create a remake worthy of the original."

The original A Nightmare On Elm Street (1984) that launched the franchise was created by Wes Craven and starred Robert Englund as the disfigured serial killer that hunted down teenaged-prey in their dreams. Freddy is known for wearing a red/green sweater, fedora and a bladed-glove (aka claw).
