John Semper Jr., Producer and Head Writer for Spider-Man: The Animated Series (1994 to 1998), has drawn attention to a one-minute promo for a Captain America cartoon that was in the works during the '90s but didn't make it to air.

"Here's a promo for a Captain America animated series, produced by Saban, that would have premiered around about the time that Spider-Man: The Animated Series was on the air," Semper Jr. wrote. "Unfortunately, due to Marvel's shaky financial and "political" situation, it was never made. Would you have watched it? (And, no, I was not involved with making this.)"

It would've been set in 1942 and the promo features images of Steve Rogers' transformation into Captain America, his best bud Bucky (sans bionic arm), various members of the Howling Commandos, a Hydra army and their leader and Cap's nemesis the Red Skull.

Check out the Captain America promo in the video below.

Captain America: Civil War picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.

Captain America: Civil War opens in theaters May 6, 2016.
