Rumors were flying around last week that Fury Road director George Miller would be directing the sequel to Man of Steel. As awesome as that sounds, that might not be the case. Not because Miller has other plans, as Den of Geek explains, but because the sequel is on "permanent hold".

See, the rumor of Miller directing was started by director of the documentary The Death of Superman Lives, Jon Schnepp. "I don't mind breaking [the news]", he said on the Popcorn Talk YouTube channel. However, Den of Geek has talked to two sources about the situation and there might be substance to Miller at DC just not on Man of Steel.

One source said that whatever Miller directs will depend on what story most interests him, his take on it, as well as the availability of the cast and crew. Another stated that as far as they understand the sequel to the 2013 blockbuster, which also polarized comic book fans, isn't going anywhere anywhere and the sequel is on permanent hold.

With DC's announced slate of movies back in October, Man of Steel 2 wasn't originally announced except for "in development", but no clear date set in stone.

Should this be the case, what exactly happened? With the slate as is, there doesn't seem to be a ton of room for a Man of Steel 2, but considering that Warners has been rumored to start another Ben Affleck-centric Batfranchise, there should be room made for Superman as well.

What do you think about this, readers? Would you like Miller to take on the Man of Steel sequel or something else down the line?
