Key And Peele Sketch Imagines Gremlins 2 Brainstorming Session

Joe Dante directed the original 1984 horror-comedy classic Gremlins, which made over $150M at the box office against a paltry $11M budget. Know what that means? Sequel time!!! Warner Bros. immediately asked Dante to return, but he declined, believing the original film's ending was complete and thus any sequel would be merely for profit. Years later, WB was able to lure Dante back, but in doing so they gave him COMPLETE CREATIVE CONTROL and three-times the budget he had for the first one. With that, Dante went hog-wild, making the bold choice to make the sequel satirized the first. And that, is how we ended up with 1990's Gremlin 2: The New Batch.

But on the latest episode of Key & Peele, the dynamic comedy duo come up with their own explanation on how Gremlin 2: The New Batch came about. Jordan Peele brilliant plays Star Magic Johnson Jr., a mysterious, yet flamboyant "Hollywood Sequel Doctor" who is brought in by the studio to help a stuffy Gremlin 2 writers room brainstorm and develop any batsh*t crazy idea that comes out of their mouths.
