What do you do when you work for the international branch of Office Depot, Viking, and you have unlimited access to colored post-it notes? Well, don't steal them and horde them at home, not when your company encourages you to do something much more fun, like use them for art - Star Wars art to be specific.

Teams at the Viking offices "regularly give different teams the opportunity" to post art to the free wall space, according to a write-up on their company blog. Inspired by other office workers who did a similar project with superheroes, the artists this time around started with 8-bit style images of popular characters like Darth Vader, Yoda, R2-D2, and a stormtrooper, using that as their base to imitate. A timelapse video shows off the process, with layered notes building the characters, with a printout of the 8-bit sketches ever-present as reference.

The blog post is presented in an amusing light, like the "difficulties" they came across during the process:

"- One of our walls had been recently cleaned with whiteboard cleaner and it made it harder to get the post-it notes to stick to the wall. We simply wiped it down with a clean towel, which solved the problem.

- We made an error with some of the designs which had to be altered on the fly. Luckily, the amount of 'sky' meant we had room to remove a few layers.

- One of the team was a bit scared of step ladders. He faced his fear!"

3,597 post-it notes were used to create the four Star Wars murals. End-to-end, those notes would stretch to 899 feet.
