According to a Facebook post made early yesterday, James Gunn should have finished his second draft of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in the last twenty-four hours or so, inching closer to its expected 2016 production start.

Gunn said that his process involves "two primary drafts and then constant noodling until we shoot," so the film is, in substance, likely written at this point unless some of that noodling comes up with a surprisingly big change.

And, for those still keeping track, he told a fan who asked that he still sometimes muses about the possibility of a Hit-Monkey movie, one of the properties he said early in his time at Marvel that he'd like to do someday but has later dismissed.

"Some days I would," he answered when asked whether he'd still like to make one.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 opens on May 5, 2017. The film is expected to start principal photography in February 2016.
