Director Bryan Singer will take a break from creating the X-Men's adventures for his next project, a film adaptation of Jules Verne's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

Singer revealed that he's put the finishing touches on the film's script in an Instagram post on Thursday, saying it is, "A story I've wanted to retell since childhood. I promise this will be an epic and emotional adventure for all ages! An adventure very dear to my heart."

Singer made clear that this doesn't mean he's done telling tales of Marvel's merry mutants, adding that he's, "Very excited about X-Men: Apocalypse and beyond."

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is Verne's classic adventure novel about the journeys of Captain Nemo and the crew of his magnificent vessel, the Nautilus.
