Tom Hiddleston Doesn't Know If He's Going To Play Loki Again

Over at ComingSoon.net, they chatted with Tom Hiddleston, who is currently doing press for Crimson Peak. Of course, when you can get in a question or two about other famous characters, you always do, and they asked Hiddleston about Loki's future. Specifically, with his mother dead and his father betrayed, has Loki finally left the nuance of his sympathetic personality behind and gone full-on villain?

"You know, I don't know. I think I won't be able to help it if I ever play him again, and I just don't know when that's gonna happen, if that's gonna happen. I would never lose his dimension, but it's so interesting," Hiddleston said.

Of course, the truly interesting part of that is him saying "if," not once but twice. The quote could be him just being coy - we don't have audio after all. When you look at the arc of the Thor films, plus Avengers, then the third solo flick, Thor: Ragnarok, basically needs Loki to work at all. With him replacing Odin, he needs to be there. Regardless, he does follow-up by saying he's discussed the character's future, though curiously not with any writers or producers.

"I've talked with Chris Hemsworth, how those characters have changed as we've changed," the actor said. "It's five years ago since I played him for the first time. That's a long time ago. So who knows what I'll be cooking up!"

There he makes things sound a bit more definitive. Either way, it's hard to think that fans would exactly flock to the theaters to see a Thor movie without arguably the main draw of the first two. In the comic books and the Norse mythology they're based loosely on, the titular Ragnarok is an apocalyptic event for the gods that Loki sets off - also meaning he really needs to be present.
