After the runaway success of Mad Max: Fury Road, fans were excited about rumors that George Miller might come back to the DC Universe after a false start for Justice League. Rumors said Miller was moving, or being moved to, directing Man of Steel 2, a stand-alone Superman movie.

Well, too bad, DC fans (and not just because no such movie is currently on any public Warner Bros schedule).

"I hope the next film I make is a very, very small film without any special effects and not many stunts," he told Digital Spy in an interview supporting Fury Road's home release. "There's been some of that in the mix," Miller said of Man of Steel 2 conversations, "but [the rumors] are probably not true."

He said that the Justice League movie in 2009 fell away because of Australian government regulations and tax rebates, plus the writer's strike. He wouldn't mind getting into superheroes at some point, though.

"I love working in mythology, and the superhero movies are basically new incarnations of the Greek and Roman mythologies, so it's always something I'm interested in," Miller said.

As for DC or Marvel? "I grew up in an era that was mainly DC. So they're the pantheon for me."
