Pee Wee Herman Is Playing Penguin's Dad On Gotham

Paul Reubens, better known as Pee-Wee Herman, will be playing The Penguin's father once again!!!

Robin Lord Taylor, who plays The Penguin/Oswald Cobblepot in Gotham, announced today during the Warner Bros. Television panel at New York Comic-Con that Paul Reubens will play his father in Fox's comic book-based television series. Reubens previously played The Penguin's father, Tucker Cobblepot (original character for the film), in Tim Burton's 1992 comic book movie Batman Returns.

"We just found out that I do have a father and he will be showing up very soon," Taylor said with excitement brewing in his voice, "and he will be played by none other than PAUL REUBENS! AKA PEE-WEE HERMAN, IS PLAYING MY DAD! What the hell! Oh my god!"

We've already met The Penguin's mother Gertrud Kapelput (Miranda Cobblepot in the comics), portrayed by Taxi star Carol Kane, and now we'll get to meet Poppa Penguin.

The GCPD is under new leadership in an all-new episode of Gotham this Monday at 8/7c on Fox!

Can't go wrong with this casting.

  1. Proving once again that this show is closer to the Burton films despite how much it's dying to be a Nolan production.

I think Heller trying to carve his own path while borrowing what he feels are best elements of prior Batman iterations.

Otherwise, Penguin would have webbed fingers & Selena would not be an orphan...to be more like Burton's vision...

Gotta love it when a show like this embraces the past of the character it's about.

  2. Great casting choice.I hope this series goes on forever! This is the best series since Netflix's Daredevil.I read that the ratings have been going down.I certainly hope that's not the case and if it is,I hope it rebounds and keeps Fox happy.
