The popular television series Baywatch, which ran from 1989 to 1999 and starred David Hasselhoff and a bevy of beauties, is getting rebooted by Paramount into a R-rated comedy film that will star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson (Furious 7) and Zac Efron (17 Again). Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses, Identity Theft) will direct, based on a script by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift.

Details have been scarce for the new Baywatch movie, but our sources have provided us today with some new information regarding character names and descriptions.

The Rock will play David Hasselhoff's character, Mitch Buchannon, the charismatic leader of the Baywatch team.

Zac Efron is playing a disgraced former Olympic swimmer. The night before his big relay race at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games (Beijing, China), he got drunk, snuck into a zoo and tried to free a panda. Now he's trying to turn his life around by joining the Baywatch team. However, becoming a lifeguard isn't as easy as he thought it would be. He froze during a close-encounter with a shark and he can't seem to get along with his boss, Mitch, who is constantly riding him.

Summer (Nicole Eggert's TV character) is the object of Efron's affection. She's a young, upbeat and naturally-skilled lifeguard that enjoys saving lives for a living. She tries to steer Efron's character in the right direction.

Stephanie Holden (Alexandra Paul's TV character) is a veteran lifeguard who became one because she fell in love with Mitch, but they broke-up and are now strictly friends. However, she begins to act jealous when Mitch falls hard for a woman he just met.

Ronnie was saved by a Baywatch lifeguard and that inspired him to become one too. Though, he ends up becoming the butt of the film's R-rated jokes. In one scene, his schlong gets stuck in something while admiring the gorgeous C.J. Parker (Pamela Anderson's TV character). Ronnie is mortified when she comes over to assist Mitch with freeing him from his delicate predicament. In another scene, C.J. will go to take Ronnie's lunch order and is surprised to find him in the coed shower section without a stitch of clothing on. She informs the new lifeguard that they shower with their suits on.

Baywatch will start filming around February 2016.
