Constantine Fans Launch Petition to Get Show Back On Air

A group of Constantine fans have officially launched a petition to bring the show back. They call it "Save Constantine," but over half a year later, you'd really have to call it something more like "resurrect Constantine using a Lazarus Pit," wouldn't you?

The petition has nearly reached its 5,000 signature goal, and the fans then plan to present it to any number of individuals and networks, including The CW, where the character guest-starred in Arrow last week to great ratings, and USA, a sister-network to NBC, where Constantine originally aired its first (and as-yet-only) season.

The question of course remains how much 5,000 petition signers would mean when the NBC series finished with 3.13 million viewers in its finale in February. A similar petition was launched all the way back in November 2014 when the show was in trouble, garnering over 30,000 signatures.

For his part, actor Matt Ryan seems like he'd be into the idea of a return. He told ComicBook.com, "But as I said, this character has been so enjoyable to play that it's something that I would jump into at any time, to be honest with you."

Arrow episode "Haunted" featuring John Constantine is now available for streaming on CW Now, Hulu, on demand, and available for purchase from most digital retailers.

  1. Signed it. I would love to see this on the CW, it would make a great fit. I just binge watched season 1 again before rewatching Haunted, and all I can say is I need more Constantine, Chaz, Zed, Corrigan, and Papa Midnite!!

  2. Love the character and this version of him but in all honesty the show wasn't very good. Monster of the week with no real story to tie them all together. I would much rather hear he is going to permanently be a member of the CWs DCU as s guest star on all shows.

I have to disagree, thought the show was great, the acting and characters were great. And while this was an instance of a 'demon/monster/spirit of the week', I think it really worked and it did not get mundane. Each episode was highly different, and the common thread tying everything together, and the reason for all these demons/monsters of the week was the rising darkness. Having him as a guest star would be great, but also having him as the lead in his own show would be awesome as well. I would love to see guest appearances from all the major characters on each other's shows.

That's not accurate at all. There was indeed a thru-line for the show, which was Manny's manipulations. He was responsible the monsters on the show.
