Last Tuesday night on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. unveiled the very first trailer for Captain America: Civil War and within the first 24 hours the amount of views it received shattered Marvel's previous best set earlier this year by the third Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer.

In 24 hours, the first Captain America: Civil War trailer racked up 61 million views. A new Marvel record! Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer #3 scored 35 million views in its first 24 hours.

When the first Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer was released in October of 2014, it set a record with 34 million views in 24 hours, however, it only held that mark for a month. That is when Disney released the first trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens and it was viewed 55 million times in 24 hours. Presently, the all-time record belongs to Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer #3, which was released last month and was viewed 112 million times in 24 hours.

Marvel's Captain America: Civil War finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark's surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability. Get ready to pick a side and join the nonstop action playing out on two fronts when Marvel's Captain America: Civil War opens in U.S. theaters on May.

Captain America: Civil War hits theaters May 6, 2016.
