From 2010 to 2011, THQ's Australian studio was developing a tie-in video game for Joss Whedon's The Avengers, but it was cancelled when the company experienced several major financial setbacks. The Avengers video game would've been a first-person action game with your choice of four playable characters: Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America and Thor. Though, there would have been a couple unlockable characters, like Hawkeye and Black Widow.

The game was written by five-time Eisner-award winning comic book writer Brian Michael Bendis and "would have loosely followed the Secret Invasion storyline from the Marvel comic books," which he had written. Instead of The Avengers battling the Chitauri, like they did in the 2012 film, this game had Earth's Mightiest Heroes taking on the extraterrestrial shapeshifters known as the Skrulls.

Over the past several years, three-minutes of gameplay footage and tons of concept art have surfaced online, but now the DidYouKnowGaming channel has posted a super-informative video detailing the games rise and fall as well as providing lots of never-before-seen gameplay footage.
