It seems that major companies are finally starting to understand: woman watch genre, too. Whether you're looking at the success of newcomers like Jessica Jones and Supergirl, or the changing face of longterm franchises like Star Wars, female audiences aren't just being heard, they're finally seeing themselves in the science fiction and fantasy they've already been supporting.

Numbers out of the last three Star Wars Celebration conventions have been nearly even, with reported figures so close to a 50/50 male/female split that reasonable margin of error covers it. Guardians of the Galaxy had the highest percentage of female viewers for a Marvel Studios film, at 44%.

Now, Time Warner CEO and Chairman Jeff Bewkes thinks Wonder Woman will bring that underserved and under-represented audience to Warner Bros. films.

"We think this could bring an under-represented female audience to this genre that frankly has not been served well in the past and that could be exciting," he said at the UBS Global Media and Communications Conference, as reported by Variety.

Wonder Woman will debut in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in the first half of 2015, and got a huge response in the trailers and at Comic-Con this year. After that from Warners comes Suicide Squad, where Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn is already getting significant buzz about nine months out from that film hitting theaters.
