The CW has released the official synopsis for "Potential Energy," the Season Two midseason premiere of The Flash, which will air on January 19.

In the episode, Joe West and his daughter Iris get to know their newest family member: Joe's long-lost son Wally.

In the comics, of course, Wally West was Kid Flash for years before taking on the mantle of The Flash for 20 years following Barry Allen's death in the Crisis on Infinite Earths.

The episode was written by veteran Smallville writer and comic book all-star Bryan Q. Miller, whose last outing in the CW's DC Universe was Arrow's "Suicide Squad" episode.

You can check it out below.

"Potential Energy" — (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (TV-PG, LV) (HDTV)

JOE AND IRIS GET TO KNOW WALLY — Now that they've grown closer, Barry (Grant Gustin) considers telling Patty (guest star Shantel VanSanten) that he is The Flash. Meanwhile, Joe (Jesse L. Martin) and Iris (Candice Patton) try to get to know Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale), and the team hunts down a meta-human who can slow time itself. Rob Hardy directed the episode written by Bryan Q. Miller (#210). Original airdate 1/19/2016.
