Gotham Spinoffs Are A Possibility With Fox

gotham

The CW has been able to spinoff two shows from Arrow's success -- The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow -- and ABC is headed in that direction as well with Marvel's Most Wanted, which is an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spinoff led by agent Bobbi Morse/Mockingbird (Adrianne Palicki). So, it should come as no surprise that FOX Chairman and CEO Gary Newman would "certainly be open to considering" Gotham spinoffs as well.

That's what Newman told IGN at Television Critics Association winter press tour, however, he pointed out that the network hasn't pursued that option yet. "We haven't had any conversations with Warners about whether or not they'd want to do a spinoff series," he explained. "I think that would be an issue for DC. It isn't quite clear to me that they'd be ready to do that, but it's a good idea."

Read this sarcastically: How about a spinoff set 15-20 years in the future. A possible title for this could be BATMAN!

As much as I like the show and lot of the characters in it I have no idea who they could spin off. I don't know if any of the characters could work outside of the series. A Nygma and Penguin buddy villain series could be fun for like a season, but Robin Lord Taylor is such a crucial part of what makes Gotham work I don't think the series could survive without him. Getting rid of Bruce and having a series about his traveling the world and training is an interesting thought but I highly doubt David Mazouz's ability to carry his own series and the Gordon/Bruce/Alfred/Selina dynamic is also a crucial element of the series. Thinking about it, if he survives the season, I would totally watch a TV series about Butch.

  2. Do a spin-off with Bruce Wayne and call it Batman.

  3. Bring in Vic Sage as the Question for a story arc. Then you could time jump the spin-off series with Vic training Renee Montoya to become the new Question.
