Pokemon Fans Launch Petition For Danny DeVito To Voice Detective Pikachu

by Russ Burlingame

Earlier this week, fans got their first look at the upcoming Pokémon spinoff, Great Detective Pikachu: The Birth of a New Duo.

It's a different take on the character of Pikachu, where he's speaking real words, and so it wasn't long before the fandom settled on who would make the ideal person to voice those words in English language takes on the concept.

And, according to about 30,000 people on Change.org, the answer is Danny DeVito.

"There are a number of us that feel as though Danny DeVito would be a prime fit for the voice acting role of the Detective Pikachu. We want to make this happen," the petition reads simply.

There's also already a mock-trailer using DeVito's audio over Pikachu Detective footage:

DeVito, whose long career in comedy and drama includes TaxiBatman Returns and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, hasn't yet commented.
