Luke Perry Cast As Archie's Dad on Riverdale

The CW has added a Beverly Hills 90210 alum to Riverdale, their mysterious, sexy take on Archie Comics.

Luke Perry will play Archie Andrews' father in the forthcoming drama from executive producer Greg Berlanti, Deadline reports.

Here's the character description:

Usually easygoing, Fred Andrews is the owner of a construction firm who is hoping his son, who worked for him all summer, will someday take over the family business.

Riverdale is rumored to be influenced by shows like Twin Peaks and take a look at the underbelly of the all-American town at the heart of Archie Comics. While the show is seemingly incorporating some elements of Archie Comics's recent reboot, clearly that's not the exclusive source material.

The pilot is expected to air on The CW in the fall.
