No new film looks likely to rise to the challenge of unseating Deadpool at the top of the U.S. box office this week, according to Deadline.

The movie, which has earned more than $500 million worldwide already, is going to cruise to a rhitd consecutive week as the #1 film in the North American market, despite competition from Gods of Egypt, Eddie the Eagle and Triple 9 -- all fairly high-profile new releases.

While Deadpool fell 60% from week to week between its opening weekend and its second frame, the film is still out-earn those three films easily. None are expected to generate more than $15 million at the domestic box office this weekend, while Deadpool earned $60 million last week and would have to take a truly spectacular tumble not to exceed $20 million.

Based upon Marvel Comics' most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
