After an incredibly successful box office, it's no secret that 20th Century Fox will be releasing a Deadpool sequel. Earlier tonight, Fox announced some new release dates for untitled Marvel films, and it's probably likely that one of the dates is for a Deadpool sequel.

Fox announced release dates of October 6, 2017 and January 12, 2018 for untitled Marvel films. Which one of those dates is likely for the Deadpool sequel? We're guessing that a Deadpool sequel might claim the January 12, 2018 release date, because of another piece of news that Fox announced.

Gambit had originally been scheduled for release on October 7, 2016, but Fox has canceled that release date for the film. It was widely predicted that Gambit would get delayed, since the film went through a change in director and has yet to start filming. Gambit is expected to start filming in New Orleans in March of this year. The October 6, 2017 release date would seem like a realistic new release date for Gambit.

The January 12, 2018 release date would also give the creative team behind Deadpool close to two years to pull things together for a sequel, which will likely be granted a bigger budget.

Of course, it could turn out that the two untitled Marvel projects have nothing to do with Gambit or Deadpool. It's possible the release dates could be for other X-Men spinoffs like New Mutants or X-Force. Or maybe Fox is going to take another shot at Fantastic Four?
