Fox Announces Two Untitled Marvel Movies, Is One A Deadpool Sequel?

After an incredibly successful box office, it's no secret that 20th Century Fox will be releasing a Deadpool sequel. Earlier tonight, Fox announced some new release dates for untitled Marvel films, and it's probably likely that one of the dates is for a Deadpool sequel.

Fox announced release dates of October 6, 2017 and January 12, 2018 for untitled Marvel films. Which one of those dates is likely for the Deadpool sequel? We're guessing that a Deadpool sequel might claim the January 12, 2018 release date, because of another piece of news that Fox announced.

Gambit had originally been scheduled for release on October 7, 2016, but Fox has canceled that release date for the film. It was widely predicted that Gambit would get delayed, since the film went through a change in director and has yet to start filming. Gambit is expected to start filming in New Orleans in March of this year. The October 6, 2017 release date would seem like a realistic new release date for Gambit.

The January 12, 2018 release date would also give the creative team behind Deadpool close to two years to pull things together for a sequel, which will likely be granted a bigger budget.

Of course, it could turn out that the two untitled Marvel projects have nothing to do with Gambit or Deadpool. It's possible the release dates could be for other X-Men spinoffs like New Mutants or X-Force. Or maybe Fox is going to take another shot at Fantastic Four?

You guys are forgetting there's already a wolverine 3 and another x-men after apocalypse. I think it's more likely those dates are for these movies

I seriously hope Fox doesn't do Fanstastic 4 again. If they do, they sure are stubborn. They should just sell those rights back or collaborate with Marvel to give us the real Fantastic 4 and their villains.

  1. Wolverine 3 already has a March 3, 2017 release date. It's possible that one of the dates could be for the next X-Men team movie after Apocalypse, but Fox has a pattern of releasing the X-Men team movies in May.

Wolverine 3 has a release date of March 3, 2017.

And neither of those dates is realistic for the next main X-Men movie. Those take way too long to put together to be released that soon after Apocalypse. It would need a few more months for sure. Plus Fox would never release one of those in a random timeslot like October or January. It's the summer movie season or the holiday movie season or bust.

P.S. Fox has already had another release date set for an unannounced Marvel movie for July 13, 2018 for a while now. That seems at least plausible for the next main X-Men entry, far moreso than either of those.

    P.P.S. Yo.

I'm not sure I missed something or people are just getting ahead of themselves. Not once(that I can recall) have I heard anything official about a new X-men movie. If I had to guess Fox's current Marvel movie line-up. Wolverine 3 - March 3 2017 (Confirmed) Gambit - October 6 2017 (in development for some time, some casting done) Deadpool 2 - January 12 2018 (Deadpool himself anouced a sequel, roughly 2 years later) X-Force - July 13 2018 (Script finished, in development before Deadpool) Fox hasn't officially canceled FF2, so as unlikely as it may seem it could be one of the dates.
