The actors behind Marvel's heroes on screen do a lot of charity work, heading out into children's hospitals and making special deliveries, but they can't be everywhere. That's when real heroes like Damon Cole, a police officer in Fort Worth, step up to the challenge.

A woman named Jeannine Lee was trying to help a family friend's son, Cole St. Clair, meet Iron Man. She took to social media asking for help in getting Robert Downey, Jr. to meet the terminally ill child. His cancer had progressed badly, with a brain tumor that was sure to end his life.

Damon Cole reached out to the representative of the younger Cole (their names are coincidence or fate, depending on how you look at it," and said, "I'm not Robert Downey, Jr., but I have a legitimate Iron Man suit," he told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

He went to Orlando, FL to meet the boy, who perked up despite his heavy medications and terrible sickness. The young Cole told "Iron Man" he'd watched Iron Man 3 the night before and smiled. Officer Cole told the boy that he was his hero.

Cole St. Clair died the next day.

Damon Cole dresses as Iron Man and other superheroes to help give sick kids across the country some hope, and to help them not be scared of police officers.
