In preparation for tonight's new episode of The Walking Dead, the twelfth of season, titled Not Tomorrow Yet, ComicBook.com had the chance to catch up with the show's executive producer and director of the episode, Greg Nicotero.

Much of our chat is filled with spoilers for tonight's episode and thus will be publishing following tonight's episode, so be sure to check back after the show, but in the mean time, here's what we can say...

First of all, being a fan myself, a little something I like to do is get a fan question in. This time, the question Twitter wanted answered was regarding a cliffhanger in the season finale.

"I don't know if I can answer that just yet," Nicotero says about the finale. "We're still playing around with the pacing of that episode. I can tell you that the last episode, the pace and the build of what happens from the teaser to the end, it's a pretty precipitous drop to a very dark place."

This is consistent with what Andrew Lincoln and Ross Marquand said about the finale, calling it the most "emotional wrought" script they've ever read. Looks like our survivors are heading down a slippery slope with these Saviors.

As for whether or not Nicotero thinks the remaining episodes in season six can top the epic moments already offered, like Carl's getting shot in the eye or the action-packed episode coming tonight, Nicotero quite simply and confidently says, "Yeah," but he's not willing to share what they are just yet.

The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 PM ET on AMC.
