The Game of Thrones Season 6 trailer has broken an HBO record, garnering 30 million views within 24 hours of its release.

The views were split between YouTube and Facebook, with 8 million views coming from the former and 22 million from the latter. The total views breaks the record for views in a 24 hour period for an HBO trailer launch, surpassing the 27 million mark set by the first Game of Thrones Season 5 trailer.

Game of Thrones Season 5 was a record breaking ratings year for the series.The new record in trailer views suggests Game of Thrones may see its viewership swell to even larger numbers during Season 6.

Based on the popular book series A Song of Ice and Fire, by George R.R. Martin, this Emmy Award-winning series chronicles an epic struggle for power in the vast and violent continent of Westeros, where summers and winters can last years. Among the returning members of the ensemble cast are Emmy and Golden Globe winner Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Alfie Allen, Diana Rigg, Natalie Dormer, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, John Bradley, Isaac Hempstead Wright, Conleth Hill, Jonathan Pryce and Gwendoline Christie. David Benioff and D.B. Weiss created the series and serve as executive producers.

Game of Thrones returns to HBO on April 24.
