Hip-hop artist Common, who was once cast as Green Lantern in the never-produced Justice League: Mortal, has finally revealed his newest DC Comics character -- this time a villain.

In Suicide Squad, Common will play a character affiliated with The Joker -- one he identified in a new interview as "Monster T." He gave no further details on the character, other than to say fans would have to watch the movie to se what he was up to.

Most fans, upon seeing his tattoos and piercings in the film, speculated that Common might be playing the Tattooed Man, a villain who's taken on Green Lantern and the Justice League with his tattoos, which he can bring to life in tangible constructs not unlike the ones Green Lantern makes with his ring.

Certainly, there would be a symmetry and irony to Common bringing a Green Lantern villain with Green Lantern-like powers to life after having barely missed his shot at playing the hero himself...and "Monster T" sounds like a more intimidating name than "Tattooed Man," although it's certainly not definitive.

It feels good to be bad…Assemble a team of the world's most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government's disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren't picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it's every man for himself?

Suicide Squad hits theaters August 5, 2016.
