David Koepp has signed on to write the script for Indiana Jones 5. Koepp is a longtime collaborator of director Steven Spielberg's, having written Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Story details are scarce right now, and it's unclear if Koepp will be working with a previously existing treatment or starting from scratch. When he wrote the script for Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Koepp was working from a treatment by Indiana Jones co-creator George Lucas, who received a story credit for the film. Lucas was not mentioned in Disney's announcement of the film earlier this week.

It's also unclear how the film will handle the age of returning lead Harrison Ford, who will be 77 when the film is released in 2019. Some have speculated that the film may tell a story via flashback, casting a younger actor as Jones in the earlier era and using Ford in the frame story. This would also avoid having to bring back or acknowledge Jones' son, played by Shia LaBeouf in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Koepp's other writing credits include Spider-Man and Mission: Impossible. More recently he wrote Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit and inferno.
