Looks like Sam Raimi's maligned Spider-Man 3 just got shot down by everybody's new favorite red-suited anti-hero.

Fox's Deadpool has now passed Spider-Man 3 at the domestic box office and is now the 8th highest-grossing comic book-based movie of all time. The Merc With The Mouth still has to surpass Raimi's first Spider-Man movie (needs to make $24M more to do so) and Marvel's The Avengers ($300M more) to top the stand-alone movie charts--movies that aren't sequels.

Deadpool officially topped Guardians of the Galaxy earlier this week which is just huge a relatively unknown character, beating a team consisting of some of Marvel's most obscure characters, but soon becoming household names and a huge franchise.

So where do you see Deadpool maxing out at? Have you seen it more than once already? The next movie to top is the beloved Spider-Man 2, which could be done if audiences keep up with their multiple viewings.

Based upon Marvel Comics' most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
