During a Q&A with reporters ahead of last night's much-anticipated Supergirl crossover with The Flash, showrunners said that the secrets of the Cadmus Project will have to wait until Season Two to be revealed -- but they wouldn't rule out the appearance of Cadmus characters, including Superboy.

Cadmus was referenced -- but not seen -- in last week's episode of Supergirl, titled "Manhunter." The episode set both Alex Danvers and Martian Manhunter on a quest to find Cadmus and rescue Jeremiah Danvers, who they believe is being held there.

"We can't speak to that," executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said when asked about Superboy. "You're not going to see Cadmus this season. It'll be something that gets saved for season 2....It's definitely something that we're going to pursue. Cadmus has such a rich history in the comics and the animated shows. There's so much there to mine. It'll definitely be part of season 2."

In the comics, the post-Crisis on Infinite Earths Superboy first appeared in The Adventures of Superman #500, following the Death of Superman storyline. Cloned from Cadmus Director Paul Westfield's DNA and the electromagnetic aura that gave Superman his invulnerability, Superboy (who would later take the name Conner Kent) escaped from Cadmus halfway through a rapid-aging and education process, was a hot-headed and glory-hungry take on the Boy of Steel.

Previous TV iterations of Superboy have never focused on the Cadmus-created version. Instead, both The Adventures of Superboy and Smallville told the tales of a young Clark Kent before he adopted the "Superman" name.
