Watch The Journey of Anakin and Luke Skywalker's Lightsaber In This Video

The simple hilt, with black ridges encircling it is unmistakable. Youtuber Christopher Sherwood took an in-depth look at the lightsaber that once belonged to Anakin Skywalker, then to Luke Skywalker, and now belongs to Rey (it's even being sold as a toy labeled "Rey's Lightsaber"), tracking its journey from Jedi to Jedi.

Sherwood uses clips from the full saga, including Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Of course, in that film, the lightsaber made a detour, as Finn wielded it first, before it made its way back to Rey, who seems destined to own it. Showing it to Luke in the final moments of the film, the weapon goes full circle - and we won't know what the next step in its journey is until December 2017, when Star Wars: Episode VIII hits theaters.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits digital HD on Friday, April 1, and Blu-ray/DVD on April 5.
