IMAX Corporation and Twentieth Century Fox today announced that X-Men: Apocalypse will be digitally re-mastered and released in IMAX and IMAX 3D in more than 50 international markets on May 18.
Major territories included in the released are Australia, Brazil, Mexico, Russia, Taiwan, South Korea and the U.K.
"After the record-setting worldwide success of Deadpool earlier this year, we are thrilled to keep the momentum going with our partners at Fox by offering overseas movie-goers the opportunity to see X-Men: Apocalypse — the most thrilling installment yet of this global and iconic franchise — in IMAX® 3D," said Greg Foster, Senior Executive Vice President, IMAX Corp. and CEO of IMAX Entertainment in a press release.
Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel's X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
