Mark Millar's crossover from Millarworld comic writer to Millarworld movie producer continues today, as two more of the writer's properties have been optioned for film. Waypoint Entertainment has acquired American Jesus, written by Millar and drawn by Peter Gross and Supercrooks, by Miller and artists Leinil Francis Yu fo film.

The movies will be produced by Waypoint's Ken Kao and Dan Kao, and Russell Ackerman and John Schoenfelder of Addictive Pictures.

They join the already released Wanted, Kick-Ass, and Kingsman: The Secret Service in the film world, along with Huck, Empress, Superior, Chrononauts, and Starlight all already in various stages of development.

"I only come to LA one week a year and do all my meetings in the pub during those seven days every September. On my most recent trip I met these guys and was wowed by their plans and the scale they're working on. Leinil and I couldn't be more delighted to have Supercrooks up and running with such talented people," Millar said in a press release. "Peter Gross and I have held American Jesus back for a decade until the right team came along. This really is that team! The level of talent we're talking about behind the camera has us all ridiculously excited. Fans of the books are in for an absolute treat."

The continued film business success for Mark Millar is perhaps best demonstrated, of course, by his Marvel Comics work, including Ultimates and Civil War, which have provided the basis and inspiration for the Marvel Cinematic Universe in many ways. While Captain America: Civil War is far from a direct adaptation of the comic book mini-series, it certainly stems from it. His creator-owned comics, despite coming from multiple publishers, are all held together under the Millarworld umbrella, from which he has several either currently being released or in the works. He's also letting up-and-coming writers and artists get in on Millarworld in the Millarworld Annual this summer.
