After months of rumors of a Space Jam sequel, Warner Bros. has made it official. Cleveland Cavaliers star Lebron James will star in Space Jam 2, directed by Justin Lin, THR reports. Andrew Dodge has also signed on to write the screenplay along with Lin.

Lin is currently in post production on Star Trek Beyond, the first of the rebooted franchise to not be directed by J.J. Abrams. The director made his name on the Fast and Furious franchise, directing four of those films, and is largely credited for the way it evolved into the box office behemoth franchise it's become. Dodge and Lin are currently working together on a couple of other projects for film and TV.

The original Space Jam, merging the worlds of NBA basketball, Looney Tunes, and science fiction, starred Michael Jordan alongside the animated cast of Warner Bros favorites like Bugs Bunny. Other NBA players like Charles Barkley, Larry Bird, Patrick Ewing, and Muggsy Bogues appeared, as did comedic actors Bill Murray and Wayne Knight.

No timeframe for Space Jam 2, or story details have been given yet. It probably has something to do with playing basketball in space alongside animated characters, though. Just a guess.
