FOX released their full 2016-2017 TV schedule, and something is missing: X-Files. After the "Event" mini-series this Winter, the show's fate was up in the air. It premiered spectacularly, but schedules for the three necessary people involved can be hard to wrangle.

While it's not on this year's schedule, FOX co-chief Dana Walden said she thinks the network with have "something exciting" to announce about X-Files during a conference call ahead of the upfronts later on Monday. She said that announcement will come at upfronts next year, implying it'll be for the 2017-2018 season. It sounds like the principals behind the show are all ready to go.

"I believe everyone is on board to do another installment of the show," she said. She and co-chair Gary Newman have already had conversations with creator Chris Carter, Gillian Anderson, and David Duchovny about a return including how many episodes they'd come back for.

Meanwhile, in the latter half of the 2016-2017 season, FOX has Prison Break and 24: Legacy, bringing both of those previous hits back to the channel.
