Kick-Ass and Kingsman co-creator Mark Millar is looking for an artist to take over Hit-Girl.

John Romita, Jr. -- the artist with whom Millar co-created the Kick-Ass characters including Hit-Girl -- is currently working on All-Star Batman with Scott Snyder and has been working with DC Comics since shortly after Kick-Ass 3 concluded back in 2014.

It's not clear whether it's Romita or somebody else, but an artist Millar had hoped to attach to a new Hit-Girl series is apparently unavailable due to a contract elsewhere for the foreseeable future, and the writer is going to have to press on without.

Now, Millar has posted a want ad to his Millarworld message board, offering $10,000 per issue plus royalties to somebody who's willing to invest a lot of their life in Hit-Girl, for a series he hopes to launch in late 2016.

"Instead of messing around emailing people privately I thought I'd just do a big shout out right now to the comic-book community," Millar wrote. "We're looking for someone truly great for this, someone who can really handle a monthly deadline (we'll be publishing around 8 issues a year, two four issue arcs) and I'd like to get them started around four weeks from now as all the scripts are being readied. Payment is $10,000 dollars an issue for black and white art and a generous royalty package for monthly books and trades."

Because of the demanding publishing schedule he has in mind, Millar would like to lock down an artist this week.

Millar also says that since he's offering rates competitive to or better than what's currently being offered at DC and Marvel Comics, he expects that there will be competition, and that while he is always willing to discover new talent he expects someone with a fairly significant body of work.
