Brad Fuller's next film production is TMNT: Out of the Shadows out this week, but the producer is also working on reviving Friday the 13th. The producer talked with The Reel Word about the film, giving the first details about the movie.

"[Writer] Aaron [Guzikowski]'s story has great characters," Fuller teased. "You kind of have to understand Jason Voorhees, so we go back and we kind of started over and work our way forward." Fuller says the story is "Origin-ish, but it's an origin that no one has seen before. Obviously Pamela's there, but it's a little bit different from what you've seen before."

The film will go back to its roots, but don't expect it to go the route of many horror films today, as Fuller said he rejected "a lot of found-footage scripts" because he doesn't think "that can exist in Jason Voorhees' world."

The screenplay is still being written, and producers Platinum Dunes (Fuller, Michael Bay, and Andrew Form) haven't given it a production schedule yet, nor stars, but they do have Friday, January 13, 2017 reserved as a release date for the film. After the script is finalized, Fuller and company will have to cast and get a director for the film.
