Deadpool finally opened in Japan last week, nearly three months after hitting U.S. theaters. It opened to $6.5 million, taking out Zootopia, which led the Japanese box office for a full month before. Deadpool continues its run as the highest grossing X-Men film with the best opening for one of that franchise in the Land of the Rising Sun.

Deadpool is the fifth-highest grossing film worldwide of 2016, now raking in over $772.3 million and still counting. It's the top of the X-Men line in both domestic and worldwide gross, though X-Men: Days of Future Past has made more money overseas, and Deadpool is likely to finish underneath it in that category.

Meanwhile, X-Men: Apocalypse, the latest film in the series, continues to do well overseas despite stalling out in the domestic box office thanks in large part to its critical reception. With $286 million so far in foreign markets, the film is now the third-highest grossing out of the U.S., behind DoFP and Deadpool. With the fast-paced summer schedule, however, it's unlikely to catch the $409 million and counting of Deadpool in those overseas markets.

Deadpool is already in home release in domestic markets, so if you want to watch it, you don't need to plan a trip to Japan. Just rent or buy it now.
