"Goodbye Christopher Robin" Adds Domhnall Gleeson & Margot Robbie To Its Cast

Fox has announced that Simon Curtis' Goodbye Christopher Robin has recruited actors Domhnall Gleeson and Margot Robbie onto its cast. Best-known for his roles in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Gleeson will be playing Winnie the Pooh creator A.A. Milne in the biopic. Robbie, who will be starring in DC's Suicide Squad, will star as Milne's wife Daphne.

First developed by Pathe, Goodbye Christopher Robin will be produced by Fox Searchlight with Damian Jones and Steve Christian serving as producers. Frank Cottrell Boyce and Simon Vaughan will write the film's screenplay.

Speaking with Deadline, director Simon Curtis said that he is, "delighted to be collaborating with Frank Cottrell Boyce to to tell the remarkable and poignant story of the family behind the creation of Winnie the Pooh." He went on to say that the film's team is, "assembling a wonderful cast, headed by two actors I am longing to work with – Domhnall Gleeson and Margot Robbie."

David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield, Co-Heads of Production as Fox Searchlight, said in a press release that they, "are thrilled to be partnering with Damian Jones and Steve Christian again and can't wait to see Simon Curtis' unique vision come to life. In Domhnall and Margot we have the next generation of acting talent who we know will shine a beautiful light on A. A. Milne's incredible and enduring story."

Goodbye Christopher Robin promises to give fans a glimpse into the story behind the family which brought the lovable character to life. The film will detail the relationship between children's author A.A. Milne and his son Christopher Robin as the child's collection of stuffed animals inspired him to write his stories. Goodbye Christopher Robin will feature the family as they're swept up in Winnie the Pooh's international success which grew in England following the First World War. However, with the world's attention focused on Milne and his son, the film will explores what cost fame had on the tight-knit family.

First created in 1926, Winnie the Pooh has become one of the most beloved figures in all of children's literature. Popularized by Disney's animated films and television series, Pooh Bear has gone on to star in dozens of titles for both children and adults to love.
