DC's embattled Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice has finally bowed in North America, and has concluded its domestic run with $330,360,194 million in box office.

Box Office Mojo Editor Gitesh Pandya released the number on his Twitter account, with the caption: "NorthAmerican #boxoffice reporting on #BatmanvSuperman is now final. Domestic run finished at $330,360,194. 50% was from opening wknd."

The film pulled in a worldwide tally of $872,662,631 million, but as Pandya noted, most of its domestic money was made in its opening week. An argument can be made on both sides for the divisive movie, as it did accomplish its main task. Warner Bros. needed to build a DC Cinematic Universe in a hurry, and Batman V Superman did just that, albeit not with the softest of touches.

That said, the movie did not leave the best impression with critics or general audiences, and stalled out early in its run. For a movie that cost so much to make when you take into account its original budget, reshoots, and marketing, it only made a relatively small profit.

Many are surprised that Warners and DC decided not to release the ultimate cut version of the film into theatres, which would have bolstered that number, though it still wouldn't have likely crossed 1 billion. Either way, the ultimate edition is coming out soon to DVD and Blu-ray, and should give fans a complete picture of the film and the universe it is attempting to create.
