At the Joss Whedon spotlight panel presented by Dark Horse Comics at San Diego Comic-Con Friday afternoon, the writer and director spent the entire hour taking questions from fans. After talking about taking some time off, he's ramping up on a new original project. However, the inevitable question came about mid-way through, as a fan asked when they'd be getting more musicals from Whedon.

"If you run the gamut of all the musicals I've done, from Doctor Horrible to Once More With Feeling, you're done. It's not a gamut, just a sad little pair in the corner," Whedon self-deprecatingly joked. "But yes, Jay-Mo [Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen] and I have been talking about when we need to sit down and do Doctor Horrible 2. But they just had a baby, and they are running a show that I'm executive figurehead of. We want to do that."

"It takes place after the events of the first. It's in the time when Doctor Horrible has basically taken over the world and is really happy. That lasts about three minutes," Whedon teased.

Whedon also made mention of something brand-new that he wants to get moving on in addition to the sequel.

"There's another original musical that I've been wanting to do as well. I don't know when it's coming, but I do need to do that," Whedon said.

Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along Blog was a musical web-series starring Neil Patrick Harris, Felicia Day, and Nathan Fillion, giving a whimsical tale of a supervillain who falls in love. Critically acclaimed and beloved by fans, Whedon has been teasing a sequel almost since the 2008 release.
