When Fear The Walking Dead returns for its second half of the season, the group will find itself splintered and looking for a place to call home.

That search will be the focus of multiple characters, and with the new locale, you can expect plenty of new characters and storyline opportunities. Executive Producer Gale Anne Hurd gave fans an update as to where the crew finds themselves when the second half of the season starts up.

"Now that the world has expanded, we can tell greater stories, we can explore different communities, and there are now not only more infected, but in order to survive, the stakes are even greater. Now that they're on shore, we get to see how suited to this environment they are. People will resort to much more violent measures. Some rise to the occasion and some fail.

Executive Producer Dave Erickson agrees and sees the new location as a breath of fresh air.

It's exciting visually and from a narrative perspective because I think we get to explore stories and characters that we are not accustomed to seeing.

Travis takes Chris away from the group, while Nick sets out to find a place more in line with his views on the undead and how they should be treated. That leaves Madison, Strand, Ophelia, and Alicia behind to find some place to settle.

Frank Dillane briefly spoke about why Nick leaves the group. "I'm trying to get to a safe place, or where there might be more people who empathize with the dead, or at least just don't go around killing them."

Madison Clark, played by Kim Dickens, addresses where the remnants of the group that remains are planning to go, and the truth is they don't know yet.

"I think Madison and Strand and Ophelia and Alicia are challenged at this point, they don't know where they're going to go. They may find themselves in another community of sorts that they sort of have to rally."

You can watch the full featurette above, and make sure to catch Fear The Walking Dead when it returns on August 21st on AMC.
