SPOILERS FOR SUICIDE SQUAD FOLLOW
As with any superhero movie, and most franchise films these days, fans shouldn't walk out of Suicide Squad as soon as the credits start to roll. Warner Bros.' DC Comics supervillain showcase has an additional scene in the middle of the credits that fans likely won't want to miss.
The scene involves Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) sitting down for a little chat with Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) concerning the role here Task Force X will play in major catastrophic events going forward. This apparent Justice League lead-in has been part of the film's script from the very beginning according to director David Ayer.
"That was always in the original script," Ayer tells Collider, "we shot that in Toronto with Ben [Affleck] up there during principal photography."
Ayer goes on to describe the power dynamic between Bruce and Waller, and what it was like working with Affleck and Davis on the scene.
"It's two type A powerful people going at it which is great drama, it doesn't get better than that," he says. "That was a lot of fun to shoot, Ben's a ridiculously talented actor and Viola [Davis], forget it, she has insane depth and range; and so being able to direct the two of them that's what I loved, that's why I'm in this business, it's scenes like that, that was a true pleasure."
It feels good to be bad…Assemble a team of the world's most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government's disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren't picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it's every man for himself?
Suicide Squad is written and directed by David Ayer and stars Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Ike Barinholtz, Karen Fukuhara, Scott Eastwood and Cara Delevingne.
Suicide Squad is now playing in theaters.
