Oh, when will we ever learn? It's been a month since Pokemon GO was released, and still, no number of horror stories can keep trainers from playing the game while driving. Numerous accidents and run-ins have been associated with the app so far, and now, police in York have released footage of one erratic driver who 'fessed up to gaming behind the wheel.

Captured by a helicopter, York police captured video of one very erratic driver who was determined to catch some pokemon. Officials say the chopper began tailing the Mercedes shortly after 3:20 AM this morning. The aircraft continued its pursuit as the car stopped by a parking lot and local park before making "suspicious turns" in the middle of a roadway.

Eventually, police were able to pull over the vehicle and warned the driver about distracted driving. Some people, however, are asking why the driver wasn't reprimanded further for the incident since it was caught on film.

Const. Laura Nicolle said no charges were pressed based on the responding officer's call. "You have to have sufficient evidence to lay that charge and usually that involves actually being seen with the phone in your hand. [The] officer may have just determined that at that point he didn't have the evidence to actually [lay a] charge."

York police have also indicated the event's time influenced their decision to forgo charges. Given the late - or rather early - hour, Nicole explained, "There were no other cars around, fortunately, and no people but had there been a bigger safety risk, that changes things, too, in terms of charges.

She went on to say that York police decided to publicly release the footage as a means to educate drivers on what distracted driving really looks like. Nicole said, "We still felt it was worth putting this out just as an education piece. That particular person was fortunate that they got a warning and hopefully, learned from that."

So, everybody, let's remember to stay safe and Pokemon GO responsibly!
