Browncoats, rise and shine - Your fandom is calling! For fans of Joss Whedon's tragically short Firefly series, its cancellation did little to snuff out their interest in the series' universe. After 13 years, and one heart-wrenching movie adaptation a la Serenity, Browncoats are more active than ever before online. And, now, those fans are all in awe over what could be the best thing you see all day. Like, it's seriously shiny.

What could that thing be? Well, it's a trailer for The Animated Adventures of Firefly, a fan-made series by artist Stephen Byrne. After teasing fans on Reddit with a 2-second GIF of Zoe and Wash, Byrne has now uploaded a teaser for the full project he's been working on.

The video itself has no right to look as gorgeous as it does. The trailer's introduction shows some amazingly smooth animation of Captain Mal piloting a hovercraft, and Byrne's sound effects sync perfectly with the scene. Other familiar faces like Inara, Jayne, and Simon are all to be found in the trailer. And, of course, River can be seen kicking all kinds of robotic butt. Fans are also freaking out since the trailer shows Kaylee, a much-beloved character, right as she's about to get jumped by what looks like a Reaver. Talk about a cliffhanger, man!

The teaser shows an image of the show's eponymous ship taking flight as stars pass by at warp speed. The whole thing ends with Byrne's promise of the series launching soon, but fans are now getting impatient since this trailer has dropped.

Even Nathan Fillion tweeted about the clip, responding to a fan who shared the video by writing, "This is simply wonderful. Browncoats consistently amaze me." So, while fans might not ever see Firefly return to the small-screen, they can continue their journey through Byrne's breathtaking work.

Seriously, somebody get this guy a team and some money. If all goes well, a series with this kind of promise could do for Firefly what The Clone Wars series did for Star Wars on Cartoon Network.
