"For that... For that you gotta pay," says Negan in response to Rick killing his men who Negan sent to kill Rick for killing his men.

In a new poster for The Walking Dead's upcoming seventh season, which will pick up where that scene left off, the price is about to be paid. Just in case any of us forgot, the creepy font printed over Rick's dazed and terrified head is a stark reminder.

But let's not forget, this is partially Rick's fault. Had the leader of Alexandria not acted with an overzealous amount of confidence, his group may have never run into Negan in the first place. At the very least, Alexandria could have been more prepared for an encounter with the Saviors than they were in The Walking Dead's season six finale.

In any case, the price will be paid.

Heading into the October 23 premiere of The Walking Dead's seventh season Rick finds himself on his knees at the mercy of the relentlessly sarcastic and evil Negan. By his side, his son Carl, girlfriend Michonne, and fellow survivors Aaron, Abraham, Glenn, Rosita, Daryl, Eugene, Sasha, and Maggie.

As the world's most unforgiving game of eenie-meenie-minie-moe comes to an end, at least one of the core members of the show will be heading out.

"Listen, it was the hardest two weeks of my life," Nicotero says of directing the Season 7 premiere.. "You take these actors and you drag them. You illicit the deepest, darkest fears that they've ever had because our actors, they're f---ing in it. So, you spend two weeks taking them to this place and it's horrific. You do it, over and over again for nine days and when it's over, you feel like you've just witnessed the most emotional things that they could drench up. They did it."
