Gimme Babymetal!

The hugely popular Japanese pop-metal band has taken the world by storm since they debuted in 2010. The mix-match group made headlines after their music video for "Gimme Chocolate!!" earned over sixty million views. Now, the group has been selected to open for the Red Hot Chili Peppers in the UK and will be the stars of an original series by Warner Bros.

The company's digital studio Blue Ribbon Content will team up with Amuse USA to produce the shortform series. Comprised of both animated and live-action footage, the new series will feature the members of Babymetal getting ready to rock n' roll - and save the world.

Sam Register, the president of Warner Bros. Animation, praised the hybrid series, saying that the band must "be seen to be believed." He described the group, calling Babymetal "a mind-blowing, fun combination of pop vocals, heavy metal music and dance choreography brought to life by three incredibly talented teenage stars."

"We are huge fans here at Blue Ribbon Content and are extremely excited to help bring the Babymetal phenomenon to U.S. audiences through this upcoming digital series."

The show will take audiences into a magical world where heavy metal music finds itself under attack. Kitsune, a lonely rogue god, chooses to defend the genre by creating a warrior band known as Babymetal to revive the world. Each member of Babymetal (Su-Metal, Yuimetal, and Moametal) will work together and shred hard to redefine the genre.

Fans of Babymetal are unsurprisingly excited about the series. The show will contain all-new performances from the group as they trade in live-action performances for animated jam sessions.

If you haven't heard of Babymetal, then it might be time you gave the band a shot. The group recently finished a world tour which saw them performing in dozens of countries and ended in front of 100,000+ fans at the Tokyo Dome. Babymetal's first studio album landed at #1 on the Billboard's World Album Chart, and their sophomore debut made them the first Japanese act to reach the Top 40 of the Billboard 200 Chart in more than fifty years.

And, if that's not impressive enough, the group has been praised by bonafide rock gods. Slipkot's Corey Taylor has complimented the group alongside Guns N' Roses' Slash and Rob Zombie.

Currently, there's no official release date set for the upcoming Babymetal series. In the meantime, you can check out the band on iTunes or view their insanely viral videos over on Youtube.
