When Agents of SHIELD debuted its fourth season earlier this month, fans of the show were obviously excited. The hit drama was moved to a later timeslot and promised fans plenty of dark, gritty action to satisfy their needs. However, there was one person who was a bit letdown by the whole thing since it left her feeling lonely. Chloe Bennet, who plays Daisy 'Quake' Johnson, talked to ComicBook.com's Brandon Davis about her first very lonely month on set.

Bennet stopped by at New York Comic Con last weekend and spoke with ComicBook.com about the new season of Agents of SHIELD and admitted she really missed her co-stars when production on it began.

"I was like, 'Season 4! Oh my god, we're going back to work.' And then for three weeks I was kind of working alone," she explained, referencing her character's rogue status as a vigilante. "So, it was a little anticlimactic, but it felt right. It obviously got me in the right headspace to play the character because she's been alone and not been with her friends and family."

Of course, fans of the show will know exactly how Daisy got herself into such an isolated predicament. The character left SHIELD last season following the death of her boyfriend Luke and found herself flooded with dark thoughts. Overwhelmed, the character bid Team Coulson goodbye and began her career as a vigilante named Quake who the media feared. However, she is forced into human interactions with others once Robbie Reyes - AKA: Ghost Rider - flits onto her radar.

Bennet has talked at length about Daisy's decision to leave SHIELD behind and said it was prompted by all she's gone through in the past three seasons.

"She has a bad track record," Bennet explained to TVLine. "Daisy cares so much about the people that she's with, the people of SHIELD, that she feels like if she gets too close to them, something bad is going to happen, they'll get hurt. I feel like she's protecting them, in a way, by going rogue."

To Daisy, becoming Quake is something that can protect her loved ones - even if she has to push them away to do so.

"She becomes Quake because she goes rogue, because every time she gets close to someone they die. Her mom tried to kill her and her dad had to kill her mom and her first boyfriend was like a Nazi – she's had a rough go these past couple of years," she told The Hollywood Reporter. "Her way of protecting the people that she cares about is really by distancing herself from them and not letting anyone else get close to her."

The actress continued, saying, "She's trying really hard and I know her intentions are to do right by her team by distancing herself from them but she's actually hurting them and I don't think she's making the right decisions. Her independence is coming from a certain sadness and she's running from something instead of being truly independent in this case."

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
