Yesterday, we reported on the rumor that the fourth chapter in the Marvel vs. Capcom series could be revealed next week at PlayStation Experience. Now, keep in mind that the title is very much rumored, with no official word from either Marvel or Capcom, so nothing has been set in stone.
However, some new images have appeared on the Internet that could very well indicate that they're starting to gain even more momentum. Three images, in fact, have now appeared, and point out that the game could release next year.
The first image indicates that the newest chapter in the series would very well celebrate almost 20 years of Marvel vs. Capcom. However, keep in mind that the two joined forces in 1996 with X-Men vs. Street Fighter, while the first Marvel vs. Capcom game didn't arrive until 1998. So it's fairly accurate, but the image could've easily said something like "celebrating 20 years of crossover action" – although, if Capcom is focusing on just Marvel vs. Capcom games, the statement would be accurate.
The second image features characters that are folded over into some kind of "4" number, featuring the likes of Iron Fist, Doctor Strange, Wolverine and more. There's also a brief glimpse of what appears to be Thing in the upper left hand corner, though it may be another character. Nothing, again, is official just yet.
Finally, there's the teaser image featuring the "4" logo, along with Marvel, Capcom and PS4 logos at the bottom. There's further speculation on this, as we could possibly be looking at another PlayStation 4 exclusive, similar to the deal that Sony and Capcom previously made with Street Fighter V. But that could just be for PlayStation Experience, and the game could very well arrive on Xbox One as well. And, hey, for that matter, PC and maybe even the Nintendo Switch. (Again, speculation.)
Now, keep in mind this is not confirmation of the game. Some talented artist could've easily put these images together, just to add fuel to the fire. But we can't help but ask…what if Marvel vs. Capcom 4 is actually revealed, and the series comes roaring back to the fighting scene? We can imagine quite a few fans would be excited for that. Including us.
Look for full details, if in fact the game is revealed, next Saturday during the PlayStation Experience event.
