20th Century FOX recently debuted a new viral website called www.1974framesoflogan.com. In a unique promotion for Hugh Jackman and James Mangold's Logan, the studio is distributing one frame at a time to people who sign up, and those will all be shared on social media and then will be pieced together into a new trailer reveal.
Based on the information from the website, the new trailer will be 1974 frames long, and if that is combined with the typical frames per second, which is 24, the trailer with just the distributed footage would only last 82 seconds. The original trailer was 1 minute and 47 seconds, so this one would come in a bit shorter at around 1 minute and 22 seconds.
The studio seems incredibly proud of the film, so much so that they've already shown the first act to press during an early screening. Hopefully, the new trailer will also include some new footage.
Logan takes place in the year 2024, where mutant births have become extremely rare. The defenders of mutant kind, the X-Men, are long gone, and the only remains of them are an old and struggling Charles Xavier and a weary Logan. Logan's vaunted healing factor has slowed, and at times doesn't seem to work at all. When a young mutant needs his help, Logan has to unsheathe his claws once more. His job isn't over yet.
Logan stars Hugh Jackman (Logan), Boyd Holbrook (Donald Pierce), Patrick Stewart (Charles Xavier), Dafne Keen (Laura Kinney/X-23), Doris Morgado (Maria), Stephen Merchant (Caliban), Elizabeth Rodriguez (Gabriela), and Richard E. Grant (Dr. Zander Rice). James Mangold is directing and helped on the screenplay along with Scott Frank and Michael Green.
