When Andrew Lincoln read the script for The Walking Dead's Season 7 finale, he was so excited about one particular moment that he put it down so he could punch the air and do a "little jig."
If Lincoln is celebrating, it likely means something exciting and positive is finally happening for Rick Grimes at the end of a season which has been one of his toughest. However, if Rick is having a moment of positivity while his plan is to take down the villain, chances are Negan is not going to be happy about it.
During a panel on the 2017 Walker Stalker Cruise, Negan actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan shared his perspective on the same moment from the Season 7 finale.
"I'm glad Rick can have a little moment. Good for him," Morgan said. "I'm glad that Rick can have a moment. I think this has been a tough season. So, if he gets to have a moment where he can jump around and be happy... If anybody's f---ing earned it, it's Andy Lincoln. And, as a fan of the show, I was even a little happy he could have a moment. Maybe Negan was sort of happy. I think Negan will be amused by him having a moment."
Beside Morgan during these poolside panel comments was Daryl Dixon actor Norman Reedus. Reedus was quick to comment on Morgan's perspective, possibly teasing some of what's in store for the good guys.
"Things can always turn around, though," Reedus said. "Sometimes tough guys don't look so tough."
"Sometimes tough guys kick ass," Morgan said.
Whatever the moment turns out to be, the seeds will be planted for it starting with Sunday's new episode of The Walking Dead. According to the back half of Season 7's official synopsis, Rick's new "singular focus" is nothing other than "to defeat Negan." We will see if he gets a victory before the season comes to a close or if his actions end up costing him even more.

The Walking Dead returns for the rest of its seventh season on February 12 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
